We are looking for a Product Developer for a global fashion brand based in Amsterdam. In this position you will be focussing on product management throughout the development process. You will manage and drive the development and pre-production process with all relevant parties involved (Design, Merchandising, Sales, Product Development), in order to achieve commercial product execution, align with corporate goals, the calendar and financial key performance.

With an extensive knowledge of the entire product development process, as well as technical construction and execution on the product, costing and vendor relations, the Product Developer is the key supporting figure and link throughout the entire development process from SRF (sketch request form) into SMS (Salesmen Samples) with everyone involved.

Responsibilities Product Developer - Temporary

The Product Developer is there to lead the development process from sketch (created by design) until final product. The product is placed, produced and received based on the standards and goals established by the division. In this role you will be reporting into the Manager Product Development. Responsibilities and key activities:

  • Delivering premium products for the female consumer by combining GIII best-sellers with global essentials and seasonal items to drive higher AURs;
  • Strong understanding of costs, price positioning, and brand vision, leveraging global talent to ensure operational excellence through the design and development process;
  • Close relationships with the supply value chain and vendors, including allocation for protos and SMS, ensuring timely sample delivery and target LDP price negotiations;
  • Accurate PLM data maintenance (e.g., BOM, prices), reviewing fabric and trim lead times, and achieving product-specific KPIs such as margins, sustainability, innovation, and on-time delivery;
  • Liaising with Central Quality Assurance on quality issues and managing ad-hoc tasks like sample organization, meeting preparation, analysis, and reporting.

Requirements Product Developer - Temporary

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience with a bachelor's/master’s degree or equivalent in fashion, clothing, or textiles;
  • Strong product development knowledge, including apparel costing, price negotiations, fabrics/trims quality, and color approval;
  • Effective communication, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment with high data integrity;
  • In-depth understanding of North America apparel import requirements, vendor sourcing landscape, and willingness to travel internationally;
  • Self-driven, pragmatic, business-minded with good command of written and spoken English.
