Freelance Senior SRE
We are looking for skilled SREs to join our client, a global retail company in Amsterdam. You will join a team that focuses on creating and maintaining eCommerce websites while delivering exceptional customer service.
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will take charge of the production environment by monitoring availability and ensuring overall system health. Your responsibilities will include building software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications, enhancing the reliability, quality, and speed of their software solutions. You will also track and optimize system performance, with a goal of advancing their capabilities, anticipating customer needs, and fostering continuous innovation.
Responsibilities Freelance Senior SRE
- Ensure the availability, latency, performance, and efficiency of global e-commerce platforms.
- Advocate for best practices and pioneering observability methods to assist product delivery teams in achieving operational excellence for new releases.
- Champion operational excellence and promote best practices in observability.
- Create comprehensive observability dashboards and establish end-to-end (E2E) observability standards.
- Develop innovative observability solutions tailored for both internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to creating observability instrumentation standards while establishing repeatable patterns for engineering teams.
- Define and execute E2E observability objectives and guide teams in implementing best practices. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to meet goals and enhance system reliability.
- Develop proprietary tools to address gaps in incident management and software delivery.
- Adopt Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices to boost system reliability and performance.
- Automate workflows for better collaborative responses and prepare teams for incident management.
- Manage error budgets, achieve Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and ensure the uptime and availability of critical platform components.
Requirements Freelance Senior SRE
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in code management, deployment processes, procedures, and tools in a DevOps or SRE role.
• Experience with monitoring tools (preferred: Dynatrace, Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, and New Relic).
• Proficiency in state-of-the-art observability trends, tools, products, and technologies.
• Ability to identify organization-wide gaps in the SRE practice and implement solutions that contribute to organizational transformation.
• Experience driving cross-organization adoption of new technologies or initiatives.
• Ability to influence senior management in selecting the right strategy, processes, and structures to transform the organization into a modern SRE team.
• Successful experience supporting a cloud production environment (strong preference for Azure).
• Competency in one or more programming languages for automation (Python strongly preferred).
• Knowledge of cloud deployment tools and methodologies (ideally Ansible, but Terraform, Azure DevOps, etc. are also considered).
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes and Docker architecture and associated tools.
• Experience with at least one configuration management solution (e.g., Chef, Ansible, AWS CodeDeploy).
• Proficiency with repository and pipeline-related tools (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, Bamboo, Travis, CircleCI).
• Experience with implementing and using various application and infrastructure monitoring tools.
The Offer Freelance Senior SRE
A great full-time assignment of 40 hours in Amsterdam, hybrid work is possible. The hourly rate for a ZZP/Freelancer will be around 110-120 EUR, depending on your experience and seniority. There is also the possiblity of having a flex contract with us, in which case an attractive salary applies.
